DIY Wooden Ombre Valentine Hearts

I am loving these easy DIY wooden ombre pink Valentine’s Day hearts I made for Miles to play with in his sensory bin!

Valentine’s Day was always one of my favorite holidays to celebrate in the classroom with my kindergarten class.

Ombre wooden pink hearts for valentines day sensory play

Here is a new #DIY wooden toy that I made for Miles to use in his Valentine’s Day sensory bin. Check back to yesterdays post to see how we dyed the beans and which method we preferred.

To make these adorable ombre hearts all you need are some wooden hearts and red and white paint.

These are my favorite metallic paints!

I found the wooden hearts on Etsy but there are also some great options on amazon!

To make these hearts I started with red paint. The paint I use is an acrylic metallic paint. I added a few drops of water to thin out the paint to help the paint absorb into the wood. I like the paint to absorb as much as possible into the wood to help avoid chipping.

After I painted the first two red hearts I added white paint to the leftover read paint. I added another drop of water and painted the second group of hearts. I continued with this method until I was done with the pairs. After the paint dried I gave them a quick spray of nontoxic shellac for wooden projects.

I love how these turned out! This project was quick and easy.
